Thanksgiving Recipe: Simple Gravy

Chef Ben’s GraVy Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb diced butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1 quart beef stock
- 1 quart poultry/chicken stock
- 2 tbs garlic powder
- 2 tbs onion powder
- 1 tbs dried thyme
- ~2 tbs salt / more to taste
- Minced parsley
- Pinch cayenne powder
- 1 bay leaf
Steps
- In a saucepan over medium low heat, melt butter (you can add a bit of water to pan beforehand)
- Add flour to saucepan and stir with a rubber spatula until combined with butter. Cook and continue to stir for about a minute, then bring to medium heat
- Add beef and poultry stock to saucepan, whisk and cook for about a minute
- Add remainder of ingredients to saucepan, whisk until all ingredients are combined
- Bring to low heat, simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring every few minutes
- Remove bay leaf and serve!
